4/30/2015: Rep. Cartwright Statement on BRADS Landfill and Keystone Sanitary Landfill

Friends, great news!! U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright has expressed opposition to the expansion of the Keystone Sanitary Landfill (KSL) saying, "A great many constituents have raised concerns about this proposal in their letters and emails, and I believe the massive scope of that expansion sends the wrong signal regarding our hope for the future of our area." Your voices are being heard and you are making a difference!

We believe that the expansion of KSL does pose an immediate threat to the residents of our communities for many reasons, including the fact that it already exists and is only 425 feet from Dunmore Reservoir #1, our back-up drinking water! By the Congressman's own logic below, our situation is even more dire than BRADS, which would be 2,400 feet from their reservoir if approved--although both situations are of great concern.

We commend Rep. Cartwright for taking a stand with his constituents, both in Schuylkill and Lackawanna Counties, and opposing these threats to our health and environment!
